more movie review

I saw "Troy" on Saturday night (with David). Wow. Could they have picked more popular actors to play the main roles? I'm not sure. I enjoyed watching it, though it was sad.. why does Orlando Bloom have to live and long-haired Brad Pitt (which reminded me WHY I bought the Legends of the Fall poster even though I hadn't seen the movie) die? Ah, well. At least they didn't change that part of the ending.

Mark has started nursery school and loves it. Mariella doesn't know how to play without Mark around. It's rather amusing to watch.

We have a busy week - church meeting tomorrow night, playing games with another couple on Thursday night (last time I won, don't fall over in shock), music service at church on Friday night, London Men's Convention for David on Saturday - play with kids and other abandoned wives for me, and David plays the organ on Sunday morning and I do singing on Sunday evening. Phew. Just typing that is exhausting!

movies and clothes

I finished Firefly and watched 'Serenity.' My opinion of the whole series lowered, but it's still enjoyable - even though they killed off my two favourite characters. Now, I imagine I'll be able to predict most any episode that may come afterwards. If there ever are any. I'm finishing Doctor Who, and I have three movies to watch, "Dogma," "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and "Troy." I also have my course materials for my correspondence course, which is called "Introduction to Social Sciences." I'm looking forward to it.

I had to buy lighterweight trousers for my daughter as the weather is (SUPPOSEDLY) getting warmer. I looked at the size that she wears in winter trousers (18-24months), and they looked HUGE. I got two pairs of 12-18 month trousers, and they fit. She's getting smaller? She certainly isn't lacking in appetite or menace capability. I think the sizes are skewed. I bought her some jeans at GAP (they had a sale, and that's the style of clothes that actually FIT her properly, unfortunately for my wallet) and the size 2Y ones fit her almost perfectly.

Time for a snack.

bits and pieces

I received the complete "Firefly" and the movie "Serenity" in the mail today. Yesterday, the kids and I went to visit our friends in Haverhill. On the way home, we stopped at Sainsbury's, a grocery store. It was a large store, so they had clothing in it. I found a lovely sweater for Mariella, but it's slightly too small, so I'll have to return it. This means I have to find where OUR local store is.

I also ordered some extra things for the kids. We'll see when they get delivered.

Firefly II

Eleven episodes in and I'm still enjoying the show. Of course, Red Dwarf series eight is out, so there may be a hold on Firefly while I finish Red Dwarf. My son and I walked the two miles to church yesterday morning, and we walked the almost two miles to visit a friend this afternoon. I'm thankful the weather is getting slightly warmer, and it isn't constantly threatening to rain.

We're having some friends over to play some board games (possibly Settlers of Catan again) on Wednesday night, which should be a welcome change to reading a book before bed.

Music

The more I listen to this cd, the more I like it. It's 'Big Beautiful Sky' by Venus Hum. Two bands I like, the aforementioned and Pedro the Lion, have songs titled 'Bells' which happen to be my favourite songs by those bands. I have the basic plan for my trip to the US in August done, I just have to wait until my correspondence courses start before I actually commit to dates. I am looking forward to meeting a 'net friend I have talked to for the past ten years, but never managed to meet.. and he was the closest one to me geographically. AND with an outstanding invitation to drive his Corvette. Nice way to spend my 30th birthday.

wedding!

I received an invitation to John and Leia's wedding in Cyprus. Now to see if we can afford to attend. My daughter pronounces the name 'Joseph' as if it is 'Jofish.' Cute.

Firefly

I've started to watch this series in anticipation for watching the movie at the end. It's an enjoyable series so far (except for the third episode - I don't care for suspense). I'll keep you posted as to how my opinion may or may not change. I'm planning a trip to the US for mid-August to attend a wedding and visit people in Washington, DC. We finally got a new faucet in the kitchen so we actually have hot water at the kitchen sink!
